TARGET CANDIDATESThis course is suitable for those who wish to become either a Gym-based or Exercise to Music (ETM) Instructor and who PREREQUISITESCandidate must be 16 years old or over. There are no other entry requirements; however, for those candidates wishing to enrol for the Exercise to Music Instruction (ETM) Certificate, it is strongly recommended that you have experience of ETM classes. If you do not have experience you should attend at least ten ETM classes before the practical course so that you are familiar with the moves. COURSE DESCRIPTIONTheory CourseStudents will be sent a Resources Pack for home study as follows: The study packs cover: Candidates study at their own pace and, when ready to take the written Theory Paper, contact the YMCA in Cambridge to arrange a date. Note: candidates must aim to complete the theory element within 3-4 months of receiving their Study Pack. Email/telephone tutorial support will be provided throughout the home study period. Practical CourseWhen they have completed the Exercise & Fitness Knowledge Theory Paper successfully, candidates will be given a choice of dates to attend the YMCA in Cambridge to cover the practical side of the qualification. This will be either 6 days for Gym Instruction or 7 days for ETM Instruction. Note: candidates must complete the full course (Theory and Practical) within 12 months of receiving the Study Pack. ASSESSMENT PROCEDUREAssessment of qualification is in five parts: COURSE COSTSCourse costs are in two parts. Candidates pay for the Theory part first and then, when they have completed the Theory Paper successfully, book and pay for the practical part of the course. The balance due for the Practical Course is payable in full at the time of enrolment. |
