Central YMCA Qualifications (CYQ) is the UK’s leading health and fitness specific awarding body. CYQ develops and awards health and fitness qualifications that are delivered through a range of institutions including private training providers, universities, colleges and schools. There are over 200 centres delivering CYQ qualifications within the UK and internationally. CYQ offer 27 recognised and respected qualifications, from introductory to advanced levels. Anyone successfully completing a CYQ qualification will gain automatic entry to the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), often a pre-requisite of employers. Active IQ the Awarding Body for the Active Leisure and Learning Sector and is a QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) approved awarding body. Active IQ aims to provide qualifications which support clearly defined career pathways in the Active Leisure and Learning Sector and to provide training providers with the highest levels of customer service and technical support to ensure that students progress and achieve the highest possible standards. fitness fx was founded in 2001. We felt instructors were being given the short end of the stick; they were slowly but surely being forced into teaching sterile pre-choreographed classes that banned any kind of movement or expression that wasn’t "in the script”. Enter fitness fx. We created a unique teaching methodology called Pro choreography which sits on the fitness landscape somewhere between freestyle and pre choreography. OCR Qualifications are nationally recognised and represent the most respected names in education. OCR was formed in 1998 from the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate and RSA and is responsible to the Government as one of the UK's leading awarding bodies, providing qualifications to students at school, college, in work or through part-time learning programmes. National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and their Scottish equivalent, SVQs, are qualifications for work. They were set up to establish National Occupational Standards (NOS) and are proof of a person's ability to do a job. NVQs represent national standards recognised by employers throughout the country. SkillsActive is the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning. SkillsActive is recognised and licensed by Government and is charged with leading the skills and productivity drive within the Sport and Recreation, Health and Fitness, Playwork, The Outdoors and Caravan industries – known as the Active Leisure and Learning Sector. The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) was set up to help safeguard and promote the health and interests of people who are using the services of exercise and fitness instructors, teachers and trainers. The Register uses a process of self-regulation that recognises industry-based qualifications, practical competency, and requires fitness professionals to work within a Code of Ethical Practice. Also known as the Exercise Register it operates in the UK and across the world to recognise personal achievement and competencies of qualified fitness professionals. Investors in People is the national standard that sets a level of good practice for the training and development of people to achieve business goals. Developed in 1990 by a partnership of leading businesses and national organisations, the Standard helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the management and development of their people. City & Guilds is a household name – in fact, according to recent consumer surveys, one in five households has a City & Guilds qualification. It was established in 1878 to encourage education and training in, and for, the workplace. City & Guilds has built close links with industry, government and training organisations to identify the skills needed to support the UK economy. It is the leading vocational awarding body in the UK, awarding almost 50% of all National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) is an independent professional body and registered charity representing those who work in environmental health and related disciplines. NUCO Training Ltd is a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Approved Training Organisation, and specialises in delivering nationwide First Aid at Work Instructor Courses. The Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire Primary Trusts were established in April 2002. The PCTs are responsible for improving the health of their local communities by assessing what their health needs are and providing or developing services that respond to those needs.
