The Next Level - CYQ Advanced Studio Instructor, Level 3

Advanced choreography techniques and teaching skills for the Studio Instructor! The YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough is amongst the very few training providers in the UK to offer the new Advanced Studio Instructor course. Dates have now been set! The first course module is Exercise & Fitness Knowledge Level 3 in February, followed by Advanced Body Conditioning, Advanced Choreography and Advanced Teaching Skills. This course is full-time, but if you are an experienced instructor, you may not need to take all (or any) of the course modules. For guidance on this and any other information, please email Liz.Smith@theymca.org.uk.

Sports Massage Therapy - Dates TBA

We are proud to announce that Joshua Wies will be Course Tutor for the Active IQ Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy Course. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland USA, Josh received his BSc in Psychology from University of Maryland, College Park and his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Boston University in 1993. He has worked in most clinical settings, including Senior Research Physio for the Addenbrookes NHS Trust Rheumatology Research Unit, and now specialise in treatment of musculoskeletal problems with a focus on the shoulder and the foot. Josh sees a large number of sports injuries in his Cambridge practice and is recommended by many of the university clubs.

Functional Training for the Independent Older Adult

YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, in partnership with Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS and Cambridge City Council, is pleased to be able to offer a new Level 3 qualification in functional training for older people led by Simon Hanna. Simon is the Clinical Exercise Specialist with Cambridgeshire Community Services (NHS) Falls Prevention Service and has specialist qualifications in working with older people including Falls Prevention and Cardiac Rehab. He is also a course tutor and assessor for Later Life Training, Leicester College and the YMCA.
