Advanced Body Conditioning
Leading to the CYQ Certificate in Advanced Studio Instruction, Level 3
The Certificate in Advanced Body Conditioning is one of the four core course modules of the CYQ Certificate in Advanced Studio Instruction. It can also be taken as a stand-alone course. The course covers group resistance programming using body weight, small equipment, free weights (studio resistance training) and stability training with or without equipment.

Incorporating advanced training principles and body weight exercises, use of a variety of small studio equipement, core conditioning, studio resistance training, class design and technique and current trends.

TARGET CANDIDATES
This course is designed for:
- Individuals who wish to work towards the CYQ Certificate in Advanced Studio Instruction
- Exercise to Music instructors who wish to enhance their qualifications
- Those who are already working as Advanced Instructors but who lack recognised qualifications
PREREQUISITES
- Candidates must be experienced instructors, aged 18 or over
- They must already hold a Level 2 Certificate in Exercise to Music Instruction
- Candidates must also be teaching Exercise to Music classes on a regular basis
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The 3 day course is held in Cambridge and covers the following subjects:
- Studio programme design, including
- Advanced resistance training pricniples
- Body conditioning
- Studio free weights
- Small equipment classes
- Core conditioning
- Current trend classes
- Use of music
- Effective resistance training
- Teaching resistance training
Note: candidates will be sent a pre-course Study Pack prior to the start of the course. The Study Pack covers knowledge of the areas listed above, together with self-assessment tasks to enable candidates to check their learning. The Study Pack must be completed prior to the course.
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE
For those students working towards the full Certificate in Advanced Studio Instruction, Assessment is by video (see Advanced Studio Instruction course description).
