CYQ Certificate in Client Lifestyle & Fitness Assessment, Level 3
"An in-depth understanding of what makes the client tick"
The Certificate in Client Lifestyle & Fitness Assessment is one of the five core course modules of the CYQ Certificate in Personal Training. It can also be taken as a stand-alone qualification. The course comprises client physical fitness appraisal, health and fitness screening, individual programme design, health and fitness testing and stress coping strategies - identify your client's needs and design an achievable, effective and enjoyable programme of exercise.

TARGET CANDIDATES
This course is designed for:
- Fitness Instructors who are seeking to work towards the CYQ Certificate in Personal Training
- Gym Instructors or Fitness Supervisors who are seeking to enhance their qualifications
- Those who are already working as Advanced Instructors but who lack a recognised qualification
PREREQUISITES
Candidates must be aged 18 or over and must already hold:
- Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction or equivalent
- Note: if applying for the full Certificate in Personal Training, candidates must hold a Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instruction
- NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Exercise & Fitness Knowledge
- Candidates must show ongoing industry experience
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The 3 day course is held in Cambridge and covers the following subjects:
- Screening, safety and information gathering
- Blood pressure assessment
- Anthropometric measurements
- Body fat percentage
- Flexibility assessment
- Muscular and aerobic fitness assessment
- Postural analysis
- Exercise counselling and programming
- Physiology of stress and stress management
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE
Assessment of qualification is conducted at the YMCA in Cambridge approximateley 4 weeks after the course and is in two parts:
- Candidates will complete a client profile and postural analysis of their client
- They will be assessed carrying out the fitness assessment tests they have selected for their client plus two further tests selected by the Assessor (note: you will be required to bring your client with you to take part in the assessment)
- They will also carry out an informal evaluation of their performance and explain to the Assessor how they will give feedback to their client
