NUCO Emergency First Aid at Work for Appointed Persons
Wherever they work and whatever they do, people need to be safe at work

PREREQUISITES
- No previous first aid experience is necessary
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Where an employer’s assessment for First Aid needs identifies that a First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement is for an employer to appoint a person to take charge of the First Aid arrangements. This includes looking after the equipment and facilities and calling the emergency services when required. In the absence of First Aiders, employers must appoint a person for this purpose. Please note: it should be remembered that Appointed Persons are not First Aiders (see the First Aid at Work course).
The 1 day course is held in Cambridge and covers:
- What is first aid?
- First aid in the workplace
- Responsibilities of the appointed person
- Action at an emergency
- Primary assessment
- Secondary assessment
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the recovery position
- Signs and symptoms and how to deal with them
ASSESSMENT
The formal assessment is carried out at the YMCA in Cambridge during the one day course.
