Choreography and Advanced Teaching Skills
Leading to the CYQ Certificate in Advanced Studio Instruction, Level 3
The Certificate in Choreography and Advanced Teaching Skills is one of the three core course modules of the CYQ Certificate in Advanced Studio Instruction. It can also be taken as a stand-alone course. The course is a highly practical and comprehensive examination of aerobic routine design in a variety of styles, with systematic routine delivery methods, musical interpretation and advanced teaching skills.

Applying the principles of choreography design to a variety of group exercise programmes
Includes advanced CV training principles, fundamentals of aerobic instruction, choreography approaches, teaching styles and communication and interaction.

TARGET CANDIDATES
This course is designed for:
- Individuals who wish to work towards the CYQ Certificate in Advanced Studio Instruction
- Exercise to Music instructors who wish to enhance their qualifications
- Those who are already working as Advanced Instructors but who lack recognised qualifications
PREREQUISITES
- Candidates must be experienced instructors, aged 18 or over
- They must already hold a Level 2 Certificate in Exercise to Music Instruction
- Candidates must also be teaching Exercise to Music classes on a regular basis
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The 3 day course is held in Cambridge and covers the following subjects:
- Advanced cadiovascular training systems
- Choreography design techiniques, including:
- Musical interpretation
- Professional qualities and teaching style
- Communication and interaction
Note: candidates will be sent a pre-course Study Pack prior to the start of the course. The Study Pack covers knowledge of the areas listed above, together with self-assessment tasks to enable candidates to check their learning. The Study Pack must be completed prior to the course.
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE
