CYQ Exercise & Fitness Knowledge Level 2

Leading to the CYQ Level 2 Certificates in Exercise to Music (ETM), Gym-based  and other Level 2 Fitness Instruction courses

Each of the above courses is in three parts, Exercise & Fitness Knowledge (EFK) Level 2 Theory, Practical Exercise Instruction and Health, Safety and Profesionalism for Fitness Professionals. This module covers the EFK Level 2 element only

 

TARGET CANDIDATES
This course is suitable for those who wish to become either a Gym-based, Exercise to Music (ETM) Instructor and who:
  • Wish to study the theory element of fitness instruction at their own pace online, or
  • Wish to re-cap their Level 2 EFK, or
  • Who are working towards another Level 2 qualification
PREREQUISITES
Candidate must be 16 years old or over. There are no other entry requirements; however, for those candidates wishing to enrol for the Exercise to Music Instruction (ETM) Certificate, it is strongly recommended that you have experience of ETM classes. If you do not have experience you should attend at least ten ETM classes before the practical course so that you are familiar with the moves.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The online course covers:
  • Bones and joints
  • Muscles, muscle actions and energy systems
  • Cardio-respiratory system
  • Components of fitness and principles of training

Candidates study at their own pace and, when ready to take the written Theory Paper, book thier Assessment online or contact Tutor Support. Note: the online course must be completed within 12 months.

ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE

Assessment of qualification is by multiple choice Theory Paper, taken at the YMCA in Cambridge. The Paper has 50 marks in total. 35 marks (70%) is required to pass. The time allocated for the paper is 60 minutes (plus 15 minutes reading time).
