YMCA Timestop Counselling Service
Timestop counselling service has been offering counselling to young people since 1992. It is situated in Peterborough Timestop Wellington Street (aged range 16 – 25yrs) and Fenland district, in schools and the community of Wisbech, March, and Chatteris (aged range 14 – 25yrs).
It can be difficult moving from childhood to adulthood
If you are feeling troubled, or having difficulties with any problem, however seemingly big or small it is, please contact us and we will be able to organise an assessment with one of our counsellors. This will take place at a mutually agreed time and we will then organise you a counsellor, if this is appropriate.
The service is Free and you will see the counsellors for 50 minutes every week (6 weeks initially) sessions can then be continued if agreed by both you and your counsellor. The counsellors are trained to create an atmosphere where it’s safe to talk about your self and your situation or problems. You are accepted not judged. They give support and understanding and a safe place for you to explore your feelings and behaviour and realise your choices and potential.
Some quotes from young people who have fed back to the service:
‘The counselling really helped, it gave me someone I felt relaxed and comfortable with talking to, which was exactly what I needed’ - ‘I enjoyed working with …….she was very supportive’ - ‘Thank you very much for everything’.

Timestop Counselling Service is an organisational member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). Counsellors are ethically bound to keep everything in a counselling session confidential. They won’t share any information with anyone outside the counselling agency, unless in very rare cases a person’s welfare or safety is at risk. They would then encourage the young person to get the appropriate help themselves, (if over 18 and not a vulnerable adult) but, if this is not possible they will help with this.
