YMCA Timestop Counselling Service
YMCA Counselling Service has been offering counselling to young people since 1992. It is situated in Peterborough at Timestop, Wellington Street and offers counselling to young people aged 16–25 years at both Timestop and Bretton.
To access this service young people can self refer or be referred by other agencies. For more information about the Peterborough service or to refer, please contact the Counselling Co-ordinator on 01733-373186 or email counselling@theymca.org.uk.
It can be difficult moving from childhood to adulthood
If you are feeling troubled, or having difficulties with any problem, however big or small it may seem, please contact us and we will be able to organise an assessment with one of our counsellors. This will take place at a mutually agreed time. We will then organise a counsellor for you, if appropriate.
The service is free. You will see the counsellors for 50 minutes every week for 6 weeks initially. Sessions can then be continued if agreed by both you and your counsellor. The counsellors are trained to create an atmosphere where it’s safe to talk about yourself and your situation or problems. You are accepted, not judged. They give support and understanding and a safe place for you to explore your feelings and behaviour and realise your choices and potential.
Some quotes from young people:
"The counselling really helped, it gave me someone I felt relaxed and comfortable with to talk to, which was exactly what I needed"
"I enjoyed working with …….she was very supportive"
"Thank you very much for everything"
