YMCA Programmes and Projects

Welcome to the Programmes page

We at YMCA Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are very proud of the projects we have developed and the services we are able to provide to our young people. Supporting young people is the most important aspect of our work. We look at every young person as someone carrying innate worth and value equal to anyone else in society. We are passionate about developing these young people.

We work with many who have suffered homelessness or come from tough or disadvantaged backgrounds, but also plenty who just are young people looking for some fun activities.

Broadly speaking we work in five main areas:

Housing

Focusing mainly on homeless young people aged 16-25.

Crime Prevention

Focusing mainly on those under 18 who are involved in or at risk of crime.

Health and Fitness and Instructor Training

We work with able bodied and disabled people as well as offering high quality training and qualifications through our courses.

Counselling

In addition to our existing counselling work in the Fens and Peterborough, we have recently expanded into Huntingdon.

Youth Work

We are very proud of our Ten Sing groups (a performing arts group for young people) and also our Girton youth project as well.

We also enjoy a wide geographical spread, working in different communities in Peterborough, Cambridge, Wisbech and Huntingdon, as well as more rural settings such as Comberton, Girton and Histon.

I hope you enjoy reading about it all.
