Intensive Intervention Project

YMCA Intensive Intervention Project (IIP)

The Intensive Intervention Project (IIP) works with 10-19 year olds who are either committing crime or anti-social behaviour or are very likely to do so in the future. We help our young people with a mixture of complex issues, such as substance abuse, homelessness and unemployment.

We provide an intensive level of support for a period of 6–12 months depending on individual need. Our aim is to provide our young people with structure in their lives and a positive role model who can mentor and support them in changing their lives and, in this way, make an impact on their future.

Since starting work, IIP has seen success in areas such as school attendance and behaviour and a reduction in crime.

We are proud of the progress that has been made in such a short space of time and will continue to support and mentor further young people to enable them discover their full potential.

One of our young people said:

"...when I grow up, I don’t want to end up like my dad… I’ve started to behave better since working with my project worker"
